EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the symposium, participants should be able to:
  • Identify the major environmental health hazards that pose a threat to children
  • Take an environmental health history
  • List resources available to help diagnose and treat environmentally-induced or exacerbated diseases in children
  • Refer children to appropriate environmental health centers, if needed
  • Arrange for exposure testing of a home, school or other facility if warranted
  • Explain the current state of knowledge with regard
    to environmental hazards and children
  • Explain the current research techniques used to study pediatric environmental health.

Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.25 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

Nurses
8.4 Type I CNE contact hours available to nurses. Texas Children's Hospital is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This activity meets Type I criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward relicensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
