OUSTON-AREA RESIDENTS are regularly exposed to various environmental health hazards, the effects of which are poorly understood.

HAT, FOR EXAMPLE, is the effect of living next to a petrochemical facility…or of breathing the dust and diesel emissions of a concrete crushing facility while walking to school each day? What is the effect on one’s health of breathing vehicle emissions while commuting to and from work…or from eating regular meals of fish caught in the Gulf of Mexico? Who should you call if you think your child has been exposed to lead or mercury…or if you think your child is sensitive to something in the air at his or her school?

HIS WEBSITE, created by Baylor College of Medicine's Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Research Center with initial funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, will attempt to address some of these questions.
